FAQs

Laser Hair Removal Facts:

Laser hair removal is a method of removing unwanted hair through a process called Selective Photo-Thermolysis.

The laser emits a very specific beam of light, targeting melanin, which is the pigment in our hair. The beam is absorbed by the dark pigment in the hair and hair follicle and converted to heat. This heat destroys the hair and associated growth structures.

Laser hair removal can work very effectively for almost everyone. The best candidates are fair skinned people (who have not recently tanned), with dark hair. However all skin types can be treated. What this means for people with darker skin types, is that more treatments may be required to receive optimal results. Naturally blond, gray, and red hairs often respond best to alternate forms of hair removal-namely electrolysis. Make an appointment for a complimentary consultation and we will evaluate your skin and hair type.

Yes. Thousands of people have undergone laser hair removal with very low incidence of complications. Used properly by trained professionals, it is extremely safe. Our laser is even safer than most because of the active cooling system, which protects the skin during treatment. Our laser specialists are certified through the State of Colorado. We’ve treated clients from Greeley, Ft. Collins, Loveland, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Our hair grows in three different phases. Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. In order for the laser treatment to be effective the hair must be in the anagen stage at the time of the treatment, which is the active growth phase. The treatments are usually done at four to six week intervals.

This is highly variable and often unpredictable, I suggest you plan on six to twelve treatments. An average of eight to ten. Those people with sub-optimal skin or hair types may require more.

Approximately 80% to 90% of people get very good long-term results. Approximately 10% to 20% of people experience a prolonged delay of regrowth lasting from three to six months. For these people, continued laser hair removal at periodic intervals may be a very good option. Our treatment programs are designed so the follow-ups, if needed, are available at an affordable and reduced cost.

There are many reasons for hair growth from age, ethnic background, hormonal changes, medications and many other factors. There could possibly be more severe reasons that inspire hair to grow such as insulin resistance, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), High DHEA levels and thyroid problems. You may want to have testing done. To find out more about these conditions, contact your physician.

The laser we use in our clinic, located in Greeley, Colorado, is gentler than most because of the unique system of skin cooling. Each person is individually evaluated and our laser settings will be tailored to you. Consequently, one person may feel more discomfort than another. Most people especially those that have been using other methods, such as waxing, or electrolysis, have no discomfort at all. During your complimentary consultation, we may do some skin testing. This should alleviate any concerns you may have. If necessary, a topical anesthetic can be applied.

Lasers have far fewer side effects than other systems available for the removal of unwanted hair, including IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), electrolysis and even waxing. Lasers have a very specific wavelength of light. Our system is a long pulsed alexandrite 755nm.This means it falls very close to infrared in the color spectrum, absorbing black and brown melanin without damaging the surrounding tissue. As long as your hair is darker than your skin, you should receive very good results, with minimal side effects. A few people experience temporary pigment changes after laser treatments (2-10%). We can minimize these temporary changes by not treating “tanned skin”. A mild sunburn effect does sometimes occur, but usually subsides within a few hours following the treatment. There is no recovery time; normal activities can be resumed immediately.

Almost anywhere on the body can be treated. Common areas that women like to have treated are the underarms, bikini, face, legs, and arms. Common areas that men like to have treated are the back, shoulders, chest, abdomen, front and back of the neck. Areas such as ears, toes, fingers, sometimes get overlooked, but can be effectively treated.

There is no charge for a consultation-just call for an appointment. However, a consultation is necessary to determine an exact cost. The cost is based upon the size and complexity of the area to be treated. Payment is required at the time of service. We accept Cash, Checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Care Credit. Photo Rejuvenation Facts:

In our clinic we use a pulsed light system. This system uses specialized hand pieces which filter light from different parts of the light spectrum. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength that is ideal for the treatment of pigmented lesions and vascular lesions. The light is absorbed by the pigmented lesions and the blood in the visible vesicular lesions and converted to heat. The heat dissolves the cells that create the pigment and shrinks the vessels.

Your treatment clinician will move the hand piece over your skin, pulsing it all the while. Each pulse will send a beam of light through the skin. A flashing light, and mild sensation on the skin will tell you when the hand piece is being pulsed.

Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling. This usually lasts 2-24 hours, and can be soothed with cold gel or ice packs.

The sunspots will darken after treatment and be naturally shed from the skin within 1-2 weeks.

Skin tone will be more normal, with less pronounced redness within a week after treatment.Broken Capillaries: Capillaries may disappear after treatment or they may appear darker and then fully or partially fade within 10-14 days.Typically, several treatments will be necessary to achieve complete clearance of sunspots, rosacea and Capillaries.

Any area, except directly around the eyes. The face, neck, arms, back, and legs can all be treated. Please call for your consultation.

Fractional Laser Resurfacing Facts:

Fractional skin resurfacing is one of the best, non-surgical methods to reverse the signs of aging and revitalize your skin to a healthy glow. While there are many treatment options for Fractional Laser Resurfacing, we chose Pixel Perfect because there is no need for topical anesthetic, there is minimal down time, and the results are as effective as traditional laser skin resurfacing.

Pixel Perfect is an innovate laser treatment that works by creating thousands of microscopic perforations – no deeper than a few sheets of paper – while leaving the skin around each of these perforations completely intact. As your untreated skin heals around the perforations, collagen is activated. Skin tightens, and scars improve. Because much of your skin remains intact, healing is more rapid and less painful than traditional laser resurfacing.

Pixel Perfect can dramatically improve the tone and texture of your skin in as little as 3 – 6 treatments. In addition to being one of the best anti-wrinkle treatments around.

Pixel Perfect can:
Repair sun-damaged skin
Shrink the appearance of pores
Fill in acne scarring
Blend uneven pigmentation

Pixel Perfect treatments are safe and effective, without the need for painful injections or costly surgery.

Botox Facts:

Botox cosmetic is the trade name for Botulinium Toxin Type A, epurified toxin causing a form of muscles paralysis.

The procedure takes just a couple of minutes in the office.

The most common side effect is possibly a little bruising. Other side effects will be discussed before the procedure is administered.

Once the procedure is performed it takes about a week to see the full results, then Botox last anywhere from three to six months.

* Repeated treatments are required for maximum benefit.

Chemical Peel Facts:

The most common acids used are alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) or beta-hydrogy acids (BHA). These acids are used for light to medium depth peels. Trichloroacetic acids (TCA) are used for medium to deep peels. Phenol peels are deep peels that usually require anesthesia and should only be performed by Plastic Surgeons or Dermatologists. In out clinic we use medical grade peels, and perform many Trichloracetic Acid TCA, and Jessner Peels, which are combination of acids.

Chemical peels improve uneven skin tone, uneven texture, they also lighten hyper pigmentation, minimize fine lines and wrinkle and pores. They also are good for treating and improving acne.

The cost varies depending on what type of peel is used. Come in and we will do a skin analysis to determine which peel will work best for you and your particular skin care needs.

Usually peels are done in a series of six to eight treatments, every two to four weeks apart. Depending on what conditions you are treating.

The skin will feel warm and tight. You will notice the skin is pink or red. In the next few days to a week, you will notice the skin starting to peel. Let the skin peel on its own, do not pull the skin off as this can cause scarring. Apply a moisturizer if advised.

Microdermabrasion Facts:

It is a safe and gentle peel that removes superficial skin cells revealing the healthier skin below. We use the DiamondTome™ System. This is a crystal free system, with superior results and added comfort.

At our clinic the degree of effectiveness is controlled by a widely adjustable vacuum in conjunction with the varying coarseness of the DiamondTome™ wands. The wands gentle lift the dead skin cells, and they are then vacuumed away.

It depends on the individual; usually there is only mild discomfort. The diamond tip wand and vacuum settings are tailored specifically to you, and your needs.

Micro-dermabrasion works well for mild to moderate sun damage, early fine lines and wrinkles, some melasma, mild acne (scarring), oily skin, extraction of blackheads and whiteheads.

Micro-dermabrasion is generally contraindicated where any of the following conditions exist:

raised moles, warts, skin tags
active acne
viral lesions, herpes simplex 1, shingles
rosacea
eczema, psoriasis
extreme telangiectasia
open wounds
skin cancer

The goal of microdermabrasion is to perform a progressive, rather than aggressive, procedure over a course of four to eight treatments. Usually spread ten to fourteen days apart. When desired results are achieved the patient is advised to return ever eight to twelve weeks for a maintenance treatment.

This depends on the skin conditions, and the amount of area being treated. Call and we will set up a time for you to come in for a complimentary consultation.

Microneedling Facts:

Microneedling can be a little uncomfortable. Everyone’s pain tolerance is unique to them. It is recommended that with deeper treatments you come in a half hour before your appointment to have topical numbing cream applied.

At clinician’s discretion, patients should refrain from the following for 24 hours prior to treatment:

  • Other spa or cosmetic treatments that would increase skin sensitivity or compromise skin integrity.
  • Use of tanning booths or extended amount of sunlight exposure.
  • Any products or medications containing retinoid or vitamin A derivatives.
  • Botox and Fillers for 14 days.
  • Any autoimmune medications or therapies.
  • Chronic use of NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen.

What should I consider after the treatment?

Day 1: Patients should expect mild to moderate edema and erythema, similar to a mild sunburn. There may be some mild bruising in some patients as well.

Day 2: Some persisting redness may be present, but all redness, bruising and swelling should be diminished.

Day 3: Most redness, bruising and swelling should be nearly gone. Normal appearance with makeup may be achieved.

Day 4: Patient should appear mostly normal at this point with some minor swelling.
